Team apetito Profiles - Dennis Gerrish

Dennis GerrishTeam apetito has a strong history, we're proud of our origins and deeply respect our many member who have stayed with us over the years. Our longest standing member, Dennis Gerrish, tells us a little about his day-to-day tasks here at apetito.

My name is Dennis Gerrish and I started working for apetito at December 15th 1955 at 07.00am – so that’s 52 years and 73 days today.

I originally came for a job as a motor mechanic on 3 months trial.  To start with, I worked on fleet of 20 vehicles ranging from small vans like Morris Commercial (1500 weight) to 7 tonne trucks.

I continue to work part time after my retirement.  My prime aim now is that when people come here and see the place they are dealing they see it clean, tidy and acceptable, and I think you'll find it's outstanding.  Nobody has to tell me what to do, I just get on with it.  I clean the smoking area, clean yard, look after potted flowers and shrubs, collect aluminium cans – bash them down flat and send them to scrapyard for money.  The money we get from that goes to the cancer research fund – we’ve currently collected and recycled 1200 cans , and I have 3000 more ready to recycle!
