Frozen For Freshness, Frozen for Safety

apetito believes that freezing is the best way of keeping nutrients and taste locked in. Frequently, when meals are prepared on a school's site, they are prepared significantly in advance, then chilled, which means both the nutritional factors and quality of the food can be deteriorated. At apetito, we freeze our meals the moment they are prepared, meaning that they are served at their best.

Only once our laboratories have given each batch the all-clear (after 8 extensive microbiological tests) do we release the stock to our customers. This forms the basis of our FoodSafe+ guarantee, and is something that chilled and on-site prepared foods simply cannot offer.

A longer product shelf-life means fewer deliveries and reduced wastage, as according to research by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) 33% of fresh food is actually thrown away by consumers. The ramifications of this and for your child’s future means that all the energy used to produce and transport the food has been wasted, and that food waste in landfills gives off the gas methane - twenty one times as potent a greenhouse gas as carbon dioxide.
