50 Years

apetito is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, but as the saying goes you are as young as you feel. Personally, I am not so far away from my 50th birthday, but one thing is sure - I feel as excited about the future as ever. A lot has changed in 50 years and if I had to pick one change since my childhood I am sure it would be technology. Heaven knows what my three boys would say if they had to revert to the toys and games of the 1960s!

In the UK we have many long service employees who have made a huge contribution to the success of apetito and before that Waldens (the name of the company before it joined the apetito group). I regularly have the pleasure of writing to colleagues who achieve long service milestones – and I can honestly say it is one of my favourite tasks. In the last few years we have also been joined by many new colleagues who are also making a real difference to our business.

Hopefully all of us can look back on the past with fond and happy memories – but the future is ahead of us and I believe that the prospects for apetito are really exciting. We’ve got a huge focus on New Business Development (ideas such as the recently launched Wiltshire Farm Foods Select range and our Care Homes test market). We’re investing in our Trowbridge factories. We are expanding with new contracts in apetito services and Healthcare and we have a huge focus on Customer Service & Distribution with a new, more environmentally friendly vehicle fleet, a refurbishment programme in Portbury and improving service standards. I am very excited about the future and I’d back team apetito to win any day.
