Our Induction Programme

our unique induction programme

Every employee who starts with apetito goes through our unique and insightful induction programme.

Our induction programme is quite unique.  We want to ensure that everyone who joins us has a full understanding of the business and the various roles that makes the company tick.  It's also a good way to meet a lot of people within the company and start to make new friends.  This process will allow you to see for yourself the workings at apetito from top to bottom.

Depending on your role the induction will last anything from 2 weeks to 3 months and may involve visiting some of our oversees sites in France, Germany the Netherlands or Canada.

You will get a full tour of our Trowbridge site, from new product development, through to our on-site laboratory as well as visiting all the business functions from Marketing to Accounts and Customer Services to HR.

You will experience life on the road with our bulk delivery drivers and find out what it's like to be at the front line delivering meals to our elderly customers - everyone who accompanies our Wiltshire Farm Foods or Meals On Wheels delivery drivers on their rounds finds it to be a very moving and fulfilling experience.

But don't take our word for it, below is some feedback from those across the company who have gone through our induction programme:

"What I loved most about the induction programme was the opportunity to see things I wouldn't normally see or experience in my day-to-day working life.  Going out on the delivery rounds with the Wiltshire Farm Foods delivery driver was a very emotional day that will stay with me forever.  These drivers are a life line to their customers and do so much more than simply deliver the food.  The time spent in the factory also changed my preconceptions about food production and made me realise that at apetito it's home-cooking but just on a big scale!" - Louise Balmforth, apetito Digital Marketing Manager

"On joining apetito I embarked on a 3 month induction programme.  This significant commitment of time, resource and finance was a major influencing factor in my decision to join the company and I have been very impressed by the whole process." - Tony Greenidge, Head Of Sales apetito Services

"You’ll hear a lot about the pride apetito takes in helping some of the most vulnerable people in society, but that doesn’t really hit home until you see it for yourself – at least that was the case for me.  As part of my induction I visited one of our Services depots and went out on rounds with a driver.  That day had a profound effect on me and it’s something I’ve not forgotten.  In some cases the customers we were delivering to – people who are unable to look after themselves, or are desperately lonely, or living in poverty – were delighted to see us, not only because we brought their food, but also because that was the only contact they’d have with another person all day.  To see the end result of the apetito process was an eye-opener and really gave me a new outlook on the part we all play in getting a hot meal to someone who relies so heavily on that delivery.  The experience made the lives of our customers seem less remote and far more personal." - Will Griffin, Health, Safety & Environment Manager

"I found the induction programme the most comprehensive and thorough I have ever experienced, it provides an excellent insight into all the important areas of the company’s operations and areas of business, providing a great basis from which to start your new role in the company.  Several key aspects stand out for me; delivering meals with Wiltshire Farm Foods and apetito Services was a real eye-opener as to how critical our role is in providing food to the most vulnerable elderly people in our community, also completing several shifts in our food production areas was more demanding and rewarding than I ever imagined." - Robin Bell, New Markets and Concepts Manager
