hammockAnnual leave
When you join apetito you’ll be given a contract of employment detailing your holiday entitlement, which will clearly outline how many days’ holiday you’ll be able to claim each year.

If you work on a part-time basis, your entitlement to annual leave and bank holidays will be calculated on a pro-rata basis. And because annual leave is accrued over the course of a year, if you join us (or leave) part-way through the ‘holiday year’, this will be adjusted accordingly.

Our holiday year runs from 6th April to 5th April unless otherwise stated.

Bonus scheme
We’re a successful business, and that success is built on drive, pride, teamwork and a dedication to delivering outstanding results. Over the past 10 years we’ve enjoyed consistent growth and profits, a proportion of which has been given to staff on an apetito contract as a bonus payout.

If the company continues to reach its annual performance targets, you’ll receive a share of our success. Your manager can explain how our bonus scheme works.

Professional subscriptions

If you take on a position in team apetito for which membership of a professional body or institution would be essential (or beneficial to the business), we will pay for one annual subscription per year. Childcare vouchers

We appreciate that childcare is a major consideration for many of team apetito, and that working parents want to provide their children with the highest quality care while keeping costs down. Our helpful childcare scheme allows you to make tax and NI savings on a monthly basis, which could add-up to £738 a year. To find out more about the scheme contact a member of HR.

Salary exchange

This annual scheme offers a great way to increase your take-home pay. With the opportunity to sign up in April each year, you agree to reduce your pay by an amount equal to your pension contribution, and in return, apetito will agree to increase its contribution to your pension scheme by the same amount.

You and apetito will then both pay lower National Insurance Contributions, and all of the saved money will be passed back to you, which will result in you being better-off come pay-day. Your pension, meanwhile, will not be affected.

To put this into perspective, an employee on a salary of £20,000 would take home an extra £88 per year – a slight increase, but worthwhile nonetheless.

Employees are entitled to maternity leave of up to 52 weeks, irrespective of length of service. And if you have 26 weeks’ continuous service by the 15th week before your baby is due, you will receive maternity pay at 90 per cent of your salary for the first six weeks, and then you’ll be paid either the Statutory Maternity Pay rate or 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings (whichever is the lower) for 33 weeks.

Paternity leave

If you have at least 26 weeks’ continuous service by the end of the 15th week before your baby is due, you will be entitled to up to 10 days of valuable paternity leave. This will be paid at the statutory weekly rate or 90 per cent of your average weekly earnings, whichever is lower. Paternity leave must normally be taken within a period of eight weeks after the birth of your baby, and should be taken in weekly blocks.

Parental leave

Raising children is a big responsibility, and occasionally you may wish (or need) to spend more time with them. If you have been continuously employed for at least one year and have responsibility for a child under the age of five, you will be eligible for unpaid leave of up to 13 weeks. And if you have a child who is disabled, you’ll be entitled to a total of 18 weeks’ parental leave until they are 18 years old.

The length of parental leave you can take in one year is dependent on the needs of the business. You can take a maximum of four weeks’ leave per child per year, and it must be taken in blocks of at least a week.

Adoption leave

If you have at least 26 weeks’ continuous service by the end of the 15th week before you are matched with a child, you are entitled to 52 weeks’ adoption leave. You will be paid for 39 of these weeks at the Statutory Adoption Pay rate or 90 per cent of your average weekly earnings, whichever is lower.

We understand that illness is a part of life, which is why we have an absence management policy that is both fair and supportive. We also offer an enhanced company sick pay scheme – in addition to your statutory entitlement – so that if you find yourself unable to work for a while, financial help will be there for you. Please refer to your contract for specific details.

Life assurance

We care for team apetito in many ways, and in the unfortunate event that something should happen to you while you’re employed by us, we’ll help to look after the people you care about. All members of team apetito are entitled to Life Assurance, so make sure you fill in the nomination form that you received in your new starter pack. Should your circumstances change, you’ll need to fill in a new nomination form so that we’ll have the most up-to-date information.

Healthcare4Work

Routine medical expenses can add up, so it’s worth putting a little aside to help cover the costs. By paying as little as £8.45 a month into our Health Care Cash Plan, you can claim back £70 towards optical charges, £80 for dental charges and health screening worth up to £100 a year. There are a number of different payment plans available, which provide varying levels of care.

Occupational health

Members of team apetito with on-going and long-term health issues are encouraged to consult the in-house Occupational Health Advisor. This dedicated member of our team is there to assist with a variety of issues including advice on medical problems and rehabilitation programmes, and the best way to manage them in our work environment. Your line manager will be able to refer you to the Occupational Health Advisor, or you can ask for a meeting through the HR Team.

Employee support line

OPTUM is our employee assistance programme, which is a round-the-clock service that provides free access to a worthwhile range of specialist support and information, including telephone and face-to-face counselling. The advice can range from financial to family care, and is available to you and your immediate family (providing they live in the same household as you).

Discounted apetito food

As you may already know we produce tasty, nutritional meals and discounted apetito dishes are available to all staff.

All our products are available for you to order and we’ll even deliver weekly to your office.

We are also privileged to have a staff restaurant on-site at Trowbridge that provides heavily-discounted food.

We also have a staff shop in Trowbridge. The freezers are stocked with a great selection of individual meals, desserts, pies and multi-portion products, as well as some special goods at heavily discounted prices.

Free parking

Available at all of our sites nationwide, so you’ll never be short of somewhere to park your car.

Eye care vouchers

If you use a computer at work on a regular basis, you will be entitled to a free eye test to ensure that your sight remains in tip-top condition. You can take the test at most opticians, and if you need glasses as a result of using a computer screen, we will give you money towards the cost of the glasses.

Foreign currency

Going on holiday? The Accounts Department offers its very own Bureau de Change service for the purchase of Euros and US Dollars. The prices offered are generally competitive, but will fluctuate according to the market.

Discounted gym membership

We want apetito to be a healthy, happy environment. And so to help you get fit and stay motivated, we offer discounted membership rates at gyms across the UK.

Christmas benefits
