'Increasing demand' for healthy and convenient food
13 Jan, 2011
There is a rising demand for food products that are both healthy and convenient, ensuring frozen foods remain popular around the world.
That is according to findings from Global Industry Analysts, whose Frozen Fruits and Vegetables: A Global Strategic Business Report points out that despite the global economic crisis the market has prevailed.
It noted a combination of innovative products and growing health consciousness has driven sales of frozen meals "even in the wake of adverse economic conditions".
"The advent of new freezing technologies is allowing manufacturers to preserve nutritional content in fruits and vegetables for longer times," it noted.
Consumers are also looking to eat-in rather than dine-out, which it stated as an additional factor in the thriving market.
Registered dietician Jenna Jones recently suggested senior citizens can find it challenging to achieve a good nutritional balance when cooking for fewer people because they are more used to preparing meals for the whole family.
