apetito Praised By Business Minister
28 Nov, 2011
Speaking at the Best of British Food and Drink Manufacturing Showcase on 21 November 2011, Business Minister, Mark Prisk MP, praised leading food company, apetito, for what he described as the “highly valuable” service that the company delivers.
Prisk was impressed by the thought and detail that has gone into apetito’s fleet of Chefmobils. These delivery vehicles, which have won a Queens Award for Enterprise in innovation, reheat meals from frozen to coincide with their specific delivery time so that each is served piping hot, just as if they had been taken out of the oven.
Ian Stone, Business Development Director for apetito, said that the Manufacturing Showcase, which took place at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, was highly valuable in driving awareness at governmental level of the importance of maintaining innovation and service within the community meals market.
“It is very encouraging that the Business Minister took such a strong interest in our service at a time when community meals are very vulnerable to economic uncertainty and in the face of growing concerns as to malnutrition in the elderly.
He also understood how important the societal issues can be in terms of an elderly person having contact with the outside world and seeing a friendly face that cares through the delivery of a hot, nutritious meal. There is no doubt that care in the home is the preferred choice for many elderly people and community meals are an integral part of this care”.
