At apetito we don't just produce great tasting and nutritious meals to help the elderly and vulnerable have a better quality of life in their Autumn years, but we also like to get involved in other aspects of caring for the elderly.
Sally Howse who works as HR Manager for apetito Services is part of the Swindon Scratch Choir who take part in 'Singing for the Brain' which is an initiative to help those with Alzheimer's.
'Singing for the Brain' is a service provided by the Alzheimer's Society to help those with dementia express themselves in a fun and social environment. The sing-a-long sessions, which take place in 30 locations throughout the country, also provides the opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to get together in supportive groups.
As described by the Alzheimer's Society, 'Hidden in the fun are activities which build on the well-known preserved memory for song and music in the brain. Even when many memories are hard to retrieve, music is especially easy to recall.'
