Earlier today, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, was given a right ‘Royal’ welcome as she visited apetito in recognition of the company’s valuable role in providing quality frozen meals and services to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

With the award-winning company that won The Queens Award for Enterprise in 2005 the first stop on her tour, The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at 10.30am and was met by Paul Freeston, apetito’s Chief Executive.  Employees gathered outside to see The Duchess and local dignitaries including John Bush, Lord Lieutenant; Jean Potter, Senior Assistant to the Chief Executive/Assistant Clerk to the Lieutenancy; Councillor Clive Blackmore, The Mayor of Trowbridge and Councillor Brigadier Robert Hall, The Chairman of Wiltshire Council were introduced to Her Royal Highness.

The Duchess Of Cornwall with apetito's Head ChefThe Duchess of Cornwall was then escorted to the Product Development Centre, where Business Unit Heads and customers provided an invaluable insight into the products and services that apetito and sister company, Wiltshire Farm Foods, offer to healthcare, community meals and care home customers as well as consumers in their own home.

Paul Freeston said:

“It has been an absolute honour to receive The Duchess of Cornwall today and demonstrate to her exactly what goes on behind the scenes of one the region’s leading employers.  This visit comes as a welcomed addition to that of The Duke of Kent, who visited in 2006 to officially present apetito with The Queens Award for Enterprise Award.”

HRH Revealing The PlaqueAs part of her tour, The Duchess was introduced to the processes involved in developing healthy and nutritious meals, with a particular focus on the new and award winning range of texture-modified meals for those with dysphagia (eating and swallowing problems).

The tour concluded with Her Royal Highness meeting some employees of the business before unveiling a plaque on the Canal Road site to commemorate the visit.

Paul Freeston summed up by saying:  “The visit gave us the perfect opportunity to showcase our commitment to investing in food, services and innovation, and we’re extremely proud that Her Royal Highness took time out of her busy schedule to visit.”
