The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has won the Hospital Catering Award category of the 2017 Health Business Awards.

The Trust’s success follows its appointment of apetito, the UK’s leading provider of meals to the health and social care sector, as the catering provider across the Hillingdon and Mount Vernon hospitals.

Taking place in London on 14th December, the prestigious awards showcased the health sector’s success stories of the year, recognising the significant contributions made by Trusts across a series of categories.

apetito was appointed following a thorough tender process involving Trust staff and Governors, Hillingdon Healthwatch, Age UK and The Soil Association’s ‘Food for Life’ team. Key parts of the tender included the taste and quality of apetito’s range, its commercial offer and impressive sustainability record.

The five-year offering also includes an advanced plated meal solution not seen before in the UK, designed to enhance the catering system to one of ease and practicality.

Rosemarie Hoyle, Divisional Manager apetito Healthcare said: “It’s fantastic to see our partners at Hillingdon being recognised for their first-class catering services. We are proud of the innovative catering operation we’ve implemented at the site and it’s great to see this gaining recognition at such a prestigious event.”
