apetito, the UK’s leading creator and supplier of meals for the health and social care sector and owner of the UK’s number one home delivery service, Wiltshire Farm Foods, announces that it will be paying staff the increased real Living Wage as of 1st January 2017; four months before the company is obliged to do so following the announcement of the rise by the Living Wage Foundation on 31st October 2016.
From April 2017, accredited Living Wage Foundation employers will pay their staff at least the new voluntary real Living Wage rate of £8.45 per hour outside of London (£9.75 within London).
apetito is part of an elite group of FTSE 100 companies and public sector organisations, which have committed to the voluntary pay rate which is significantly higher than the government’s mandatory National Living Wage. Paying the real Living Wage is just part of apetito’s ‘Fairness Agenda’ which operates across the UK company. The company also has a profit-share scheme for staff which is paid in addition to the Living Wage.
The real Living Wage is the only wage calculated based on what employees and their families need to live, which is why it’s higher than the government minimum wage. It’s a voluntary scheme which apetito have signed up to as part of the company’s commitment to make a real difference to both staff and consumers who come into contact with the business.

“My life is less stressful around money. Before the Living Wage I used to look in my purse to check how much money I could spend. Now I can shop for the things I need without stressing about how I will pay for it.”
