Alzheimer's Support Cheque Handover 19th Apr 2017 Press Release On 18th April, apetito charity champions visited Alzheimer’s Support’s Mill Street Club to present the charity with a cheque for our latest donation of £20,000. A photographer from The Wiltshire Times came to capture the moment. Grant Newton, Head of Day Care Services showed the charity champions around the site and explained the club’s unique ethos and culture. The rooms are bright, colourful and beautifully decorated. Walls are adorned with stories and photographs of members, as well as artwork and crafts created by them in sessions. An indoor garden area also provides a quiet space, allowing members to experience more natural surroundings. Mill Street is one of two day centres run by the Alzheimer’s Support in Wiltshire. Day centres provide people living with dementia with a full day of activity in a stimulating and supportive environment, whilst carers are given the opportunity of a real break. Specialist staff and trained volunteers focus on the person rather than their dementia. Boosting confidence, building relationships and creating opportunities for meaningful social engagement are at the heart of each club’s ethos. Jessica Robson, one of apetito’s charity champions commented; “It was brilliant to spend a few hours at the Mill Street Club and see first-hand some of the fantastic services our donations go to support. The atmosphere there is truly something special.” You might also like to read... uk malnutrition awareness week Article starting the conversation with malnutrition awareness week 14 October 2019 how to care for someone with malnutrition Article looking into the causes, symptoms and treatment of malnutrition 11 September 2019 how care homes can tackle age-related nutritional ...
