Project Management


"Food manufacturing is something that has always interested me, in a sense of wanting to know how quality products could be produced on a large scale and how all the processes fit together. Coming from a scientific and engineering background, I wanted to find out more about the finer details of the manufacturing process.
As well as this, apetito provide food to the most vulnerable people in our society. Being such a ‘foodie’ myself, I know how big an impact a good meal can have on your mood and general well-being, so the company’s mission resonated with me."


Making a real difference in Project Management

I started as a Graduate Project Engineer in January 2017, working in the Health & Safety team to explore projects that would reduce the company’s risk of fire and also improve the energy use of the factory. After my first year I moved from Health and Safety into Engineering, where I carried out a composite panel replacement project, and was responsible for looking at effluent minimisation. I was also involved in facilitating the transition of maintenance engineering shift patterns from a 16-hour day coverage to 24-hour coverage. I have recently moved internally again, where I now work as a Project Manager in the New Product Development team. Here I am tasked with how to improve the overall product, system and service for apetito's Carte Choix range. 

With regards to training and development, I have been on numerous seminars from energy and sustainability, to safety regulations for industrial ammonia refrigeration. Currently I am enrolled onto Lean six sigma training to achieve my green belt.

There are loads of positives about working for apetito. The fact you are given a real chance by the company to move around, to grow and develop is something you don’t find very often. One of the main things I love about working at apetito is the people we have here. Despite it being a fairly large company, it feels like everyone knows everyone! Staff here are friendly and eager to help out, especially if you’re a graduate trying to make a real difference.

About Product & Research Development at apetito

Our Product & Systems Development team are responsible for identifying and delivering new product innovations that create competitive advantage, support long-term sustainable growth and make a real difference. This role is a great opportunity to further enhance food innovation within our business. You will be supported through a programme covering all areas of the product development process from idea generation & concept development through to launch. You will quickly ‘own’ and manage projects with the opportunity to make a real difference.
