apetito, the leading provider of meals to the Healthcare, Care Homes, Education and Social Care sectors, is today announcing its full compliance with the Ethical Trading Initiative’s (ETI) Corporate Transparency Framework.

The ETI is a leading alliance of companies, trade unions and NGOs who come together to promote respect for workers’ rights. As an organisation, it facilitates the learning and sharing of best practice within global supply chains and supports the delivery of continuous progress for workers around the world addressing issues like modern slavery, child labour, wages and discrimination. Having joined the ETI in 2016, apetito is the only food corporate member, operating in the health and social care sector.

Each year, members are assessed on their compliance with the ETI’s Corporate Transparency Framework, which outlines standards focused on upholding labour and human rights within their supply chains. The framework requires companies to share information about their supply chains, commitment to labour rights and internal governance, and accountability structures. For the first time, members’ performances are publicly accessible on the ETI’s website, which marks a major step forward in promoting openness and responsible corporate practices.

Lee Sheppard, Director for Corporate Affairs, Policy & Sustainability at apetito said:

"We firmly believe in doing business the right way and are extremely proud to be recognised as fully compliant with the Ethical Trading Initiative’s Corporate Transparency Framework. As a member of the ETI, we fully welcome and applaud the organisation’s transparent approach to publicly reporting members’ performance, which promotes accountability.

"Our compliance with all elements of the framework demonstrates how apetito is a business that is committed both championing ethical practices within our supply chain, tackling modern slavery and delivering continued progress for workers across the food industry.”
