This week saw Trowbridge-based business, apetito, donate lunch to three dementia care day centres across Wiltshire. Over the course of two days, more than 60 people enjoyed hot meals of main courses and desserts.
In order not to waste any meals cooked as part of its oven testing days, the apetito team delivered a range of meals from its award-winning menu to the Alzheimer’s Support centres based in Wiltshire. Namely, the Old Silk Works in Warminster, the Mill Street Club in Trowbridge, and the Sidmouth Street Club in Devizes.
Head of Day Services at Alzheimer’s Support, Grant Newton said:
“We are moved by the ongoing support of apetito. This local company constantly goes above and beyond to make a real difference to the lives of people with dementia in Wiltshire. This latest generous donation of hot lunchtime meals for our members is gratefully received, and I know will be enjoyed by all our members. Thank you apetito.”
Lee Sheppard, Director of Corporate Affairs and Policy for apetito said:
“As a business, we regularly hold oven testing sessions which enables us to provide the best advice to our customers to ensure they receive the highest quality of food every time.
“Through partnering with Alzheimer’s Support for these testing sessions, not only are we preventing food waste – something we constantly strive to avoid - but are also providing a hot, nutritious lunch to members of our local community who we know will welcome and enjoy our meals.
“We work very closely with people who are living with dementia, especially through our Care Homes and Healthcare’ divisions, and understand the important role food plays in health & well-being.
“As one of life’s simple pleasures, food is something individuals can look forward to and enjoy. We’re glad we can be a part of that whilst supporting a local charity which does extraordinary things. Together, we can make a real difference”.
