Community Support Helps Air Ambulance Pilot Gear Up for Duty
In a gesture of community support, Trowbridge-based meals provider, apetito has donated £500 to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity for a brand-new flight suit.
The donation was made through the business’ Staff Foundation scheme, which gives grants to support causes important to apetito colleagues.
Lois Cooper, Graduate Marketing Executive, had first-hand experience of the charity’s life-saving work after being airlifted to Bristol Royal Infirmary when she was only eight years old – an experience that left her and her family extremely grateful for the service:
“Thankfully I had no severe or lifelong injuries from the accident, however the speed of the charity’s response and their excellent support throughout had a lasting impact on my family. Ever since then we have carried out various fundraising activities and given donations to try and repay some of that support.
“It’s a charity that I will always stay involved with because I owe them a lot, and I am proud to work for an employer that values making a real difference in the community and supports causes meaningful to its staff.”
The flight suit was needed for the charity’s newest helicopter pilot joining the team who is expected to make a significant impact on the charity’s operations. As an essential emergency service that relies entirely on public donations and sponsorships, Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance play a vital role in delivering rapid medical response across the region.
Fraser Normington, Head of Fundraising at Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance spoke on this generous donation, saying
“We are extremely grateful for donations like this one from apetito. As we receive no Government funding, we depend entirely on the goodwill of individuals and businesses to ensure our highly skilled team can be there for those who need them most.
“This flight suit is a critical piece of safety equipment that keeps our pilots protected and prepared for the demanding conditions of the job.”
