We are looking for new team members to join our graduate placement programme and make a real contribution to the sustainability, resilience and success of our business, to gain real insights into engineering related to manufacturing process work, achieve professional career development and gain experience in a key business function.

We are also a member of The UK’s Plastics Pact, an initiative looking to transform the plastic packaging industry in the UK. As part of the initiative, we have committed, along with other ambitious targets, to eliminate unnecessary single-use plastic completely by 2025.

Here at apetito, we take our duty to give back to our local communities and chosen charities very seriously. We also support our communities through the apetito Staff Foundation, which gives financial support to the chosen charitable causes of our staff and their children. This exciting opportunities will be supporting the production and commerical teams in our frozen food manufacturing & Supply chain environment to deliver innovative solutions to the manufacturing process. You will be working on a variety of capital projects and expansion projects, dependent on the need at time of entry, that add value to the business. You will be required to understand complex manufacturing processes and develop innovative engineering, and / or process solutions, to improve the performance of our manufacturing facility across a broad range of KPIs.
Working in a range of environments, you will gain experience in engineering, manufacturing & supply chain principles, process flows, facility design, production equipment and utilities and refrigeration systems. You will have an opportunity to learn and put in practice techniques such as CAD, Lean, Project planning, along with continuing to develop our long term expansion plans and strategy as part of the wider team.
Some key areas of focus are shown below;
Factory Expansion / Future Capacity Forecasting
• Review & understand existing models
• Work with the team to develop forecasts and how these impact on key constraints e.g.
o Warehousing (Trowbridge) for Raw Materials / Packaging / WiP / Finished Goods
o Preparation areas (focusing on low risk kitchen, high risk kitchen and debox)
o Production areas (Meals)
• Highlighting potential space and process flow future constraints that need to be modelled
• Key machinery constraints based on different scenarios
• Develop a digital model that can be used to easily view different scenarios
• Help develop & input into the 5 year capital plan model
Supply Chain Improvements
• How we receive goods (end to end process map)
• Warehousing (Frozen, Chilled, Ambient, Packaging) capacity requirements (internal & external) for the next 3+ years
• Optimum RM & Packaging stock holding quantities to maximise efficiency (in warehousing & production)
• Stock management process
• Booking in process – understanding of current process and research options to improve aiming to have a decision made implementation started.
• Digitisation opportunities
You will be studying towards a degree in Engineering/Mathematics/Sciences related discipline with the expectation that you will receive a 2:1 (graduating 2022) or above and are looking to complete a 12 - month placement as part of your degree.
